I have been researching John Bliss Holt(s) and Sybil C. Scott and their family. I would like to hear from anyone who has information on John's ancestry. I believe he is a descendant of Martin Oltz, a refugee who came with the Loyalists. Any information would be helpful. I am not related to this family, but am trying to help some friends.

The Wooler family history - 0 replies

SusanWooler Posted by SusanWooler in Ancestry and family history in Wooler on Mon Oct 4, 2021 8:11am

Hello. I have just joined you and although I have been to Wooler in 1976, I was not researching your history then! Who were the first Wooler settlers? Do decendants live in the area now? Is the Wooler Garage I saw, still there? If anyone wants to join in, that is great! I appreciate the difficulties the world is in and I guess this takes my mind off it. I wish you all good health.

Cesar and Dillon Fleury accident - 0 replies

JoeJoe Posted by JoeJoe in Ancestry and family history in Fort-Coulonge on Sat Sep 25, 2021 5:19pm

Hi.  My relatives lived in Fort Coulonge Quebec.  I remember going there when we were young.  Olivine and Jean-Paul were my God parents.  My sisters went to Fort Coulonge today to reminisce.   We couldn't remember where the Fleury Farms were.  Then we got to talking and remembered our Dad mentioned an accident that both Cesar and Dillion were involved in and died.  Looking for information on how to find the farm for the next time we go up, as well as info on the accident  Thanks.

An Acadian Family's Journey in New Brunswick, The Legacy of Maurice Roy 1875-1960 has just been published in August 2021. The mystery that remains to be solved is the traditional, spiritual name of Maurice's wife, Rose Anne Perron. According to wedding certificates and censuses from 1891 to 1921, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and Marie (Lizotte) Perron living in Balmoral. and she passed in 1928 in Newcastle NB. Rose Anne was born in Tobique (1874) and this was her residence when married in 1897. Apparently she had to leave Tobique because of inter-racial marriage before moving to Balmoral. Can anyone shed a light on my great grandmother's formative years in Tobique?
