Hi I have been trying for 21 years to find my gg grandmothers birth family and my ancestry in Gabarus.

my gg grandmother was called Frances Hardy and born around 1831- 1833 in Gabarus. My present day family had no idea we had any connection to Gabarus prior to seeing a reference to frances birthplace on a census.

I have never been able to find her birth record but a marriage certificate was found for her marriage to a William rickards in 1861 in Halifax NS. There is a baptism record for a 'Frances Hardy' in 1833 no middle name which shows her parents as ruth Bagnall and John Hardy.

However this same baptism seems to have been ascribed to another frances from the same family. This other Frances is named as Frances Maria Hardy who later married Nathanial Armstrong but she died in Forchu. (possible sibling?)

My dna results match me to many descendants of ruth and john hardy. They also match me to siblings and ancestors of the same couple.

I wonder if the two siblings and records have got mixed up over the years - I cannot find my gg grandmother on anyones tree of this family but the DNA connections keep leading me to this same family.

My gg Grandmother Frances got married with no family as witnesses and under special licence. She married a british soldier and moved to England after her eldest daughter was born in december 1861 in Halifax nova scotia. My Frances Hardy died in England.

I would love to find out anything about her prior to her wedding but it seems an impossible task - she seems to have been wiped from Hardy/Bagnall Gabarus history??

Any help to unravel the trail would be gratefully recieved.

Debbie
